OPI – Vodka & Caviar Matte

, , , , , ,

Today I have for you one of my favourite nail polishes, Vodka & Caviar, but instead of glossy I’m showing you it matte.  Recently I picked up OPI Matte Top Coat.  I have the Essie Matte About You Top Coat however my nail beds are on the larger side so the Essie brush sometimes proves to be tricky.  So I was really happy when OPI released a Matte top coat.

3 coats of OPI Vodka & Caviar with OPI Matte Top Coat

This nail polish has been featured 2 times previously.  Once one it’s own in a Lacquer Legends post and one with some dupe comparisons in a Lacquer Look-A-Likes Post.  I know that this nail polish has been discontinued and it is disappointing however it’s a great polish if you can still get your hands on it.  I really like the way this looks matte.  I think it adds something different.

What do you think? Do you like the matte top coat?

OPI – Suzi’s Hungary Again!

, , , , , ,

Happy Monday!  Today I have a review of OPI Suzi’s Hungary Again! from the Winter 2013 Euro Centrale Collection.

3 coats of OPI Suzi’s Hungary Again! with Cult Nails Wicked Fast

I really like this nail polish.  The nail polish was thick but went on well  To me this is such a bright and fun colour.  Not really a Winter colour per se but I like it.  I also featured this colour layered with OPI Polka.com.

What do you think?  Do you wear colours that match the season or do you wear what you feel like wearing?

Cult Nails – Flushed

, , , ,

Happy New Year!  I hope everyone had a safe and happy new year.  May 2014 bring everything you hope for and more.

Today I have a review of Cult Nails Flushed.  This nail polish was from the Behind Closed Doors collection released in for Fall/Winter 2012.

3 coats of Cult Nails – Flushed with Cult Nails Wicked Fast Top Coat

Cult Nails FlushedIsn’t this a gorgeous colour??  I found the application thick yet sheer however it was easy to work with.  It would probably look really great layered, maybe even over a dark blue or black.  Overall I like Cult Nails and their nail polish.  This has a little bit of a Clarins 230/Max Factor Fantasy Fire feeling about it.  But it’s way more accessible which is a huge plus.

You can find this on the Cult Nails website or for my Canadian friends on Nail Polish Canada.

OPI – Polka.com

Hi everyone! Last Day of the year!  2013 went by so fast!  I hope 2014 brings all they you want and more.

Today I have a review of Polka.com from the Winter 2013 OPI Euro Centrale Collection.

2 coats of OPI Polka.com over OPI Can’t Find My Czechbook

OPI Polka.com2 coats of OPI Polka.com over OPI Suzi’s Hungary Again!

OPI Polka.com2

First of all I adore the name of this nail polish!  I think it is super cute.  To me this is a coloured version of OPI Pirouette My Whistle, released for the Soft Shades 2012 NY Ballet Collection.  I felt that I had to do a lot of placement with the glitter, like dabbing it on, for me to get the right mix of large and small glitter pieces.  This is best used as a layering nail polish.  To use this on it’s own would require too many coats if you were trying to go opaque with it.

This would probably also look really good layered over white.

butter London – Chancer

, , , , , , ,

Hi there! To all those that celebrate, Merry Christmas.  Today I’m showing you what my Christmas manicure is, butter London Chancer.

3 coats of butter London Chancer with Cult Nails Wicked Fast

This colour reminds me of Essie Leading Lady.  It is a really dense red glitter.  The formula was just OK; most of the time I don’t have much luck with butter London formulas.  It is a little on the thicker side and it’s not very forgiving.  It does take some getting use to and for the most part these colours are worth it.  It did however start to chip within 12 hours of application.  It could be that the mix of my base/top coats don’t work well with butter London vs it would chip regardless.

I have a ton of red glitter nail polishes and I should do a comparison of them all.  My gut is telling me that BL Chancer and Essie Leading Lady are near dupes but I would like to confirm.

I got this a while ago but you can still find this on the butter London website or on Nail Polish Canada.

Merry Christmas and lots of joy for the upcoming year.

drybar – Lemon Drop Daily Detangler

, , , , ,

Keeping up with the hair product theme, today I have a review of drybar Lemon Drop Daily Detangler.  I purchased this at Sephora when I was in Las Vegas back in September.  I came across drybar and their products by accident.  I was looking for a review of the T3 Featherweight Hair Dryer and there was a comparison with that one and the drybar Buttercup.  Then as I started exploring the products on Sephora’s website I saw that they had a detangling brush that the founder Ali Webb used in her “Dry It Yourself” videos.

(Take a look at them, there are some pretty great tips: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kAWoakJEQU4&feature=c4-overview-vl&list=PLgcq_yrMXOwVc1jrNbhMDbnrlsDRAEmYv)

drybar Lemon Drop Daily Detangler

drybar Lemon Drop

I’m a HUGE fan of this brush.  Those with curly hair or hair that gets knotted might find it helpful too.  My system is that after I shampoo my hair I put some conditioner in my hair, wet it and then brush it through (then I put more conditioner on and let it sit).  It saves me tons of time after I shower and it has really cut done on my brushing time.  I also use it out of the shower to brush through product before I blow dry my hair.  I don’t typically brush my hair after I blow dry it but I have and it works really well for that too.

Unfortunately I have not seen them in Canadian Sephora stores but they do ship the drybar products to Canada.  I highly recommend this product.  Can be found at Sephora for $15.

Also from drybar I have the Full Pint, Hold Me Hair Clips, 100% Proof Treatment Oil, The Morning After Shower Cap and The Chaser Shine Pomade (On top of nail polish I have a boat load of hair products as well).  Let me know if you want to see any reviews for them and I’m happy to blog about it.

OPI – Hands Off My Kielbasa!

, , , , , , ,

Morning! Today I have for you a review of OPI Hands Off My Kielbasa! from the Winter 2013 Euro Centrale Collection.

2 coats of OPI Hands Off My Kielbasa! with Cult Nails Wicked Fast Top Coat

OPI Hands off My Kielbasa!

This is a somewhat frosted pinky – peach nail polish.  Personally I’m not into the colour itself by the formula was pretty good.    It does remind me of the colour of Kielbasa though which is quite amusing.  Overall a decent formula if you are into this colour and finish.

OPI – Can’t Find My Czechbook

Today I have for you a review of OPI Can’t Find My Czechbook from the Winter 2013 Euro Centrale collection.

3 coats of OPI Can’t Find My Czechbook with Cult Nails Wicked Fast Top Coat

OPI Can't Find My Czechbook

This is a blue-green/teal creme nail polish.  This looks more blue in the bottle than what came out on the nail.  I’m not a biggest fan of that; I like when the bottle matches the nail polish on the nail.  The formula was pretty good; self-leveling and decent consistency.  The colour isn’t that original which is too bad however if you are in the market for a teal it’s a decent one to pick up.

It’s a Christmas Miracurl!

, , , ,

Have you heard about the new innovation in curling irons?  Where the hair goes in and it curls your hair for you?  You mean no more curling iron face burns??  No more curling your hair the wrong way? (curling out opens your face)  No more uneven curls??

I have curly hair yet for some reason I have three (3) different types of curling irons.  And I think I might want to add another one to my collection…

Nail Polish Canada reached out to me to share some exciting news/giveaway about the new BaByliss Miracurl (get it).  Open to Canada/US residents Nail Polish Canada is giving away 3 to those who provide the most “compelling” reason.

There are at least a couple of ladies I know (*cough* my sister *cough*) that could use one of these!  So what are you waiting for?  Enter now…

It’s a Christmas Miracurl! – NailPolishCanada.com is giving away 3 Babyliss Miracurl’s ($600 value)

Every holiday season millions experience a sense of sadness at the flatness in their life. In an effort to cope some find themselves straining important relationships.

“I know my husband loves me, but another day where I’m running late trying to curl my hair in a mad dash is just a fight waiting to happen”  – Katie B

Could people go without curled hair? They could, but experts agree such a lack of regard and care is sure to result in a coal filled stocking.

Today Nail Polish Canada has announced their plans to take a stand and solve this important issue with the Babyliss Miracurl. In just seconds the Miracurl literally sucks your hair right in, curls it, then beeps letting you know it’s done.

In order to raise awareness Nail Polish Canada is giving away 3 Babyliss Miracurls, to whoever can convince us they are the most “in need” of one.

“This will impact people’s lives. Together we can make a Christmas Miracurl”  – Nikki Smith, VP Glitter *This is our favorite pun ever and we’ve been using it around the office for weeks

Simply describe why you or a loved one is in need of a Christmas Miracurl at:http://www.nailpolishcanada.com/products/miracurl-by-babyliss.html

In the spirit of a true Christmas Miracurl the winners will be announced Christmas Day!

Notes about nominations: Feel free to stretch the truth a bit and most importantly have fun.

OPI – You’re Such a Budapest

, , , , , , ,

Today I have for you a swatch of OPI You’re Such a Budapest from the Winter 2013 Euro Centrale collection.

3 coats of OPI You’re Such a Budapest with Cult Nails Wicked Fast Top Coat

OPI You're Such A Budapest!

This is a light purple creme nail polish that really needed the 3 coats.  Anything less than that made this very streaky.  Even at 3 coats it’s a bit streaky in the pictures however this is not a noticeable in person.  This collection had a lot of creme polishes however this feels much more like a spring colour to me than a winter colour.

Nice simple colour but I wish the formula was less sheer.  From what I understand it is intended to be opaque and unless you have 3 thick-ish coats you probably won’t achieve that.
